Public Notice of Available Board Appointments

The White County Board of Commissioners will be accepting applications for the following board appointments until November 24, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

White County Board of Health:

The appointee (1) must be a consumer advocate who will represent the county’s needy, underprivileged, or elderly community on the board.

The appointee must be able to attend quarterly meetings held on the first Wednesdays of each quarter. The Board of Health meetings, which last approximately two hours, are held beginning at 1:30 P.M. in the Health Department Conference Room.

The appointment will be for six-year term to expire December 31, 2021.

White County Planning Commission:
The appointees (3) must be able to attend meetings held at 6:00 p.m. at the White County Senior Center on the first (regular meeting) and last (work session) Mondays of each month and other meetings as may be required.

The appointee must be able to make decisions based on existing regulations and must be able to participate in the planning of future regulations affecting White County.

The appointment will be for a three-year term to expire December 31, 2018.

White County YMCA Board:

The appointee (1) must be able to attend meetings on the last Thursday of every other month at 4:30 p.m. at the White County Parks YMCA and will be working to promote and develop programs for the White County YMCA.

This appointment will be for a one-year term expiring December 31, 2016.

White County Board of Assessors:

The appointee (1) must successfully complete 40 hours of approved appraisal courses through the Georgia Department of Revenue within six months of appointment and an additional approved 40 hour course within one year of appointment as set out by Georgia Law. Appointee must be able to attend regularly scheduled meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 A.M. and also any called meetings throughout the course of the term.

The appointee must not be related to a member of the Board of Commissioners in any degree set out by Georgia law.

White County Building Authority:
The appointees (2) will be 1- for a two (2) year term expiring December 31, 2017 or 1 for a one (1) year term expiring December 31, 2016 and will represent the White County Board of Commissioners in facilitating public projects of White County on an as needed basis.
