EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER

The purpose of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is to provide a centralized location where public safety and emergency services personnel can work together in preparation for and in response to a potential or actual disaster or major emergency. This facility is the primary local resource for managing and controlling emergency operations before, during and after an event.

In keeping with the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the EOC is consider part of a Multiagency Coordination System (MCS). An MCS is a combination of resources integrated into a common framework for coordinating and supporting incident management activities. The MCS is designed to support the incident management policies and priorities; facilitate logistical support and resource tracking; coordinate incident related information; and to coordinate interagency and intergovernmental issues regarding incident management policies, priorities and strategies.

The primary functions of the EOC are to:
