Where to register:
Requirements to Register to Vote:
You Must:
- Be a U. S. Citizen
- Be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote
- Be 17 ½ years old to register
- Be 18 years old to vote
- Not be serving a sentence for a conviction of a felony involving a moral turpitude
- Not have been found mentally incompetent by a judge
- You must register or make any changes to your
registration at least 30 days prior to the up-coming election. You should
receive your voter precinct card in the mail within 30 days.
ABSENTEE VOTING:
A voter is allowed to vote ABSENTEE if the person:
- Is required to be absent from his/her precinct all day on election day
- Is unable to vote in person because of a physical disability
- Is an election official performing official duties
- Observes a religious holiday that falls on election day
- Is required to remain on duty in his/her place of employment to protect the
health, life or safety of the public during the entire time the polls are open
and his/her place of employment is not within his/her precinct
- Is 75 years of age or older
- Gives constant care to a physically disabled person
Absentee Ballot Applications:
Absentee ballot applications are available in the
Registrar’s office. An absentee ballot application is
required for each election unless you are 75 years old or older or physically
disabled or military personnel.
Requesting an Absentee Ballot:
A separate application must be made for the Presidential Preference Primary. You may
request an absentee ballot in person or by mail from the Chief Registrar’s
Office at:

Absentee ballots are available 45 days prior to the election.
How to Return an Absentee Ballot:
Absentee ballots must be returned to the Registrar’s office through the U.S. Mail
or by the voter in person, or a relative of a disabled voter by 5:00 p.m. on the
election day, in order to be counted.
EARLY VOTING
Early voting is a form of Absentee Voting. A voter
may cast his/her ballot from Monday through Friday in the Registrar’s office
the week before an election. No reason has to be given to vote
absentee in this manner.
